Essential Oils: Safety Guidelines

1. Always read and follow instructions carefully.

2. Keep essential oils in a secure place away from children and pet.

3. Use a variety of essential oils and rotate those you use often to avoid irritation.

4. Unless otherwise stated, always dilute topical oils with a good quality carrier oil such as organic olive or coconut oil.

5. If an essential oil gets in your eyes, dilute immediately with carrier oil or milk. Seek medical attention if stinging continues.

6. Never place essential oils inside the ear.

7. If allergic to certain foods, do not use essential oils or carrier oils that come from those foods.

8. The following essential oils should be avoided if you have epilepsy: cajeput, camphor, eucalyptus, fennel, peppermint, and rosemary.

9. Utmost caution should be adhered to with essential oil use during pregnancy. There are 6 Young Living essential oils that are regarded as extremely gentle and “generally safe for all” by even the most cautious. They are: Copaiba, Lemon, Myrtle, Lavender, Frankincense, and Valor.

It is always our intention to share the most cautious of information.

As with anything, what you put around, in or on your body is your decision.

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are volatile, aromatic liquids plants release in response to toxins or injury and when parts of plants such as the root, bark, leaf or flower are cold-pressed or distilled.

How do they “Work”?

Essential oils serve protective and restorative purposes in plants, including transportation of oxygen and immunity and cellular support. Because the human body and plants are comprised of the same fundamental building blocks (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon), essential oils have the ability to work similarly within the human body as they do in plants.

Why YOUNG LIVING?

Young Living Essential Oils is the ONLY company that follows the production of essential oils from Seed to Seal and guarantees their purity.

Young Living owns and actively co-ops all o their farms, growing plants in better than organic conditions in the lands where the plants are indigenous.

Plants are distilled at their optimal times under low temperature and heat to maintain the full therapeutic value of the essential oils.

Only the first distillation of the harvests that yield optimal percentages of constituents are bottled.

Young Living maintains an open-door policy and welcomes all visitors at each farm.

What are "Vitality" oils?

Vitality oils have the white "Vitality" label. You will notice that some oils have the white Vitality label and a regular colored label, for example Thieves, Lavender, Lemon and Frankincense are just a few.

Vitality oils are labeled for internal use and can be used in capsules or cooking or added to a glass of hot water and honey to make a tea. Remember, oils are very concentrated, so a drop or two is usually sufficient.

The oil in the Vitality bottle is the same oil in the colored label. The label just serves as a visual cue as to which oils are ideal for internal use.

Why Diffuse?

Diffusing (or inhaling) essential oils is a FAST way to get the oils into the body. Within seconds of breathing essential oils, the molecules reach the limbic portion of the part - the part that manages emotions, memory formation, heart rate, respiration, body temperature, focus and much more.

Diffusing oils is an easy way for many to receive the benefits of an oil in one sitting. You should diffuse at least one oil every morning and another every night to begin to see the potential benefits of an oil. Just drop 6-8 drops of oil into the diffuser, fill with water to the fill line, and press the button.

That 5 ml bottle of oil from the starter kit will last 2-4 weeks with typical use.
